In 2013, engage2 developed and hosted a series of events across Queensland and NSW that showcased the full spectrum of engagement technologies available to government.
More than just a conference, the EngageTech events presented over 250 public servant attendees with the opportunity to explore and discuss how technology and innovation can support government business practice.
What did we workshop? While online engagement and social media featured strongly, we also looked at how to make their websites engaging, how to collect feedback and how to manage submissions and relationships. And we structured the event to ensure that participants had plenty of time to contribute and share these lessons. This five-stage event format included:
- an expo showcasing technologies
- a panel discussion
- a workshop with world café-style discussions
- a speed networking lunch to meet the technology providers
- a debrief and group brainstorm of lessons learned.
Want to keep in touch with technology for engagement? We can help you explore the ever-widening spectrum of EngageTech possibilities.
Draft Sydney Metropolitan Strategy – digital engagement strategy
engage2 helped the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure enhance its consultation processes by developing a digital strategy and solution to support engagement on its Draft Sydney Metropolitan Strategy.
First, we helped the Department encourage digital feedback from 1200 stakeholders by using social media and online forums, forms and surveys to extend their engagement formats beyond events, emails and submissions. We then used a range of tools to convert the written submissions to digital formats so they could be collated with other feedback and uploaded to Darzin, a stakeholder management software.
This work provided the Department with the issues tracking, analysis and reporting that it required while also meeting privacy and recording-keeping requirements. Our work also allowed the Department to engage further with participants by sharing the consolidated feedback through online reports.
As part of the project, engage2 also contacted local schools to ensure kids, rents and teachers were aware of the strategy and had the opportunity to engage with it. All our events featured opportunities for kids and their families to share their vision for the city. Their ideas were then fed back into the Draft Sydney Metropolitan Strategy.
Unlock the value of your stakeholder feedback and improve the efficiency of your consultation processes with the help of integrated engagement technologies. Ask us how.
Urban Activation programme
We helped the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s Urban Activation programme to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and to consistently consult communities across eight different areas in Sydney, through the design and implementation of protocols and processes.
The Urban Activation programme facilitates the delivery of more homes in places with access to infrastructure, transport, services, jobs and improved public spaces.
At the time of engage2’s work, the eight project areas included North Ryde Station; Epping Town Centre; Herring Road, Macquarie Park; Randwick; Anzac Parade South; Carter St, Lidcombe; Wentworth Point and Mascot Station.
engage2 supported the programme’s efforts by designing and setting up protocols and processes for the management of its stakeholder relationships, which included councils, State government agencies and peak industry bodies.
We also helped the team to obtain consultant services for community consultation, and supported the application of protocols and processes by the consultants in each project area.
Relationships are key to successful engagement. Let us show you how to build strong and long-lasting ones.
