In 2014, engage2 worked with the Digital Engagement team at the Department of Internal Affairs, New Zealand, to develop the New Zealand Government’s Online Engagement Guidance.
Designed to help communications, engagement, policy and planning teams to plan and deliver effective engagement online and share best practice, the Guidance took a practical approach to online engagement.
We employed high level strategic thinking and planning in our market assessment, evaluation of service requirements and the development of a new approach to share services.
Engagement practitioners across New Zealand contributed to the Guidance through a series of workshops and participation in the New Zealand Online Engagement Community of Practice. We selected technologies and developed solutions to support process change and improve customer service and online engagement.
The Guidance included simple explanations of key concepts, checklists, a case study template and an easy-to-use template for developing an engagement strategy. It was published digitally with Creative Commons and continues to be to be used by government agencies today.
